Michael and Ryan’s Seattle Waterfront Engagement Photo Session<\/h1>\n

I have to apologize for taking so long to get this engagement session online.\u00a0 Too busy with other shoots, and much as I like to get various photo sessions online ASAP my first priority is always to get my clients’ photos edited and in their possession as quickly as I can.\u00a0 Since it takes me quite awhile to actually write and put together a blog post, these have to wait when I am busy with other photo shoots.\u00a0 But eventually I always do get the blog posts written!<\/p>\n

This was my first time meeting Michael and Ryan in person.\u00a0 They located me online and wanted to have me photograph their wedding in July 2020.\u00a0 We had traded emails and phone calls trying to find a good day to meet for some engagement photos. \u00a0 Since it was already into Autumn the weather proved to be a bit of a challenge.\u00a0 But we kept in contact and finally managed to coordinate everyone’s schedules on what looked like would be a decent day for some photos.<\/p>\n

As it turned out we really lucked out with the weather conditions.\u00a0 Sunny and quite warm, not a common occurrence in Seattle in October!\u00a0 We met at the south end of the Olympic Sculpture Park and started right in.\u00a0 Ryan and Michael wanted to take photos both at the Sculpture Park and Pike Place Market, so we tried to move pretty quickly so we could finish within their schedule.<\/p>\n

As we made our way around the park I had a chance to find out a bit about both Mike and Ryan.\u00a0 They are relatively recent transplants to the area, last living in Florida, and have been here for just over a year.\u00a0 So far they are adapting well to the very different climate, and actually claim to enjoy Seattle’s weather.\u00a0 I’ll admit to being a bit prejudiced since, except for my time in college, I have lived here all of my life.\u00a0 But even so the gloom of winter (possible weeks or more with no sight of the sun) does get to me sometimes.\u00a0 But as we compared the climates of Seattle vs. Miami I had to admit that overall Seattle sounded pretty good.<\/p>\n

Ryan and Mike have done quite a bit of exploring of not just Seattle but of a good part of the state.\u00a0 Pretty good for a coupe of newbies to the area!\u00a0 They had just come back from a trip to the coast, and were very enthusiastic about going back again when they had the chance.<\/p>\n

As we talked we kept walking around the Sculpture Park, taking photos whenever we found something interesting.\u00a0 You’ll see photos from most of our stops below.<\/p>\n

Then it was time to head for Pike Place Market for a new background.\u00a0 We worked our way through the Market, taking photos at some of the “usual” spots, but due to the nice weather the Market was unusually crowded, so we decided to walk down to the waterfront area.\u00a0 And of course we managed to find a number of good spots for photos along the way!\u00a0 When we arrived at the waterfront near the Aquarium and the Great Wheel I was seriously bummed to find that the fountain in front of the Aquarium had already been turned off for the season.\u00a0 I really love taking photos with this fountain so I was very disappointed that we didn’t have that option.<\/p>\n

But no matter, we still found plenty of other good spots for pictures.\u00a0 And all too soon it was time for us to end the session and say goodbye.\u00a0 It was a lot of fun working with the guys, and I’m really looking forward to working with them again next July.<\/p>\n
