Susan and Tom have a Holiday Wedding at the Seattle Tennis Club

My final wedding of 2021 was the fantastic wedding of Susan and Tom, held at the Seattle Tennis Club. Due to Covid concerns this was a relatively small wedding in several ways. First, the number of guests was cut down and many/most of the guests were relatives of either Tom or Susan. Pretty impressive to be able to field this many relatives at a wedding. Their family reunions could be epic!

The weather in the days leading up to the wedding was awful, with lots of cold, rain, and wind. Since the Tennis Club is on the shore of Lake Washington it offers some great photo possibilities, with a nice view of Mt Rainier. However, if the weather does not cooperate just going outside can be a rather nasty experience. And because the days are so short, the sun sets soon after 4PM so the available natural light disappears very quickly.

But once again the Wedding Gods smiled on us. When I arrived at the Tennis Club at 3:15 the sun was out, the skies were mostly clear and Mt Rainier was visible. Susan and Tom arrived about 3:30, and we headed straight to the dock in front of the club. the only downside of the clear skies was the temperature, which was quite cold even wearing a jacket. So we tried to move quickly to keep Susan from freezing!

After geting some fun shots on the dock we moved back to the Club building, where guests were starting to arrive. The plan was for a long “Happy Hour” before the wedding ceremony, where we would also take photos of various groups of family and friends while everyone enjoyed the excellent appetizers prepared by the club kitchen. This all went perfectly, and while a few guests were wearing masks when they arrived everyone quickly went maskless and just enjoyed the company of their friends.

The ceremony was held next. Chris, one of Susan’s four sisters, was the officiant. I’m not sure if she does this professionally, but she was wonderful! Everything went perfectly, and in a short time we had some newlyweds!

Next it was time for dinner, and then dancing. This was a pretty good dancing crowd, and DJ Billy Heany of Limitless Event DJs kept everyone on the dance floor happy.
