Happy Anniversary Nicole & Scott Snoqualmie Falls Wedding

Happy Anniversary to Nicole and Scott!

Nicole and Scott made a special trip from their home in Minneapolis to get married at Snoqualmie Falls.  Neither had ever visited the Seattle area, but they had discovered Snoqualmie Falls while researching the perfect place for their elopement wedding, and when they saw photos of the Falls and other wedding that had been held there they were hooked.  Scott called me in late January to ask if I was available to be their photographer.  I love weddings at the Falls and my answer was an enthusiastic YES!  But I did warn Scott that the chances of rain were pretty high for an early April wedding, and that they might want to consider having some umbrellas along, just in case.

The day of the wedding it was absolutely pouring rain that morning.  I live in Bellevue, about 20 miles from the Falls, and it is usually drier here than it is in Snoqualmie, which is right at the base of the Cascade Mountain range.  Sure enough, when I checked the conditions at the Falls it was raining there as well.  I spoke with Scott and Nicole and they had already gotten some umbrellas, so we arranged when and where we would meet and prepared for the day.  Nicole told me that they were going to be accompanied by their kids, daughter Tobias and son Lucas, but other than that there would be no guests.

We met in downtown North Bend and I took the family to one of my favorite photo spots in the Snoqualmie valley, a place where a now unused train trestle crosses the Snoqualmie River.  After a nice photo session there we climbed back into our cars and headed for the Falls, where we met up with the pastor who would perform the ceremony.

I’m not going to recount the entire day for you, you can see that by clicking on this link to Nicole and Scott’s wedding at Snoqualmie Falls.  But I will tell you that everything went almost perfectly.  The rain had stopped by the time the ceremony began, and the recent rains meant that the Falls had a great flow and provided a great (if rather damp!) backdrop for the wedding.

We finished the day by driving to the base of the falls so we could get a few more photos there.
