Lien and Ryan Get Married at the Robinswood House

On a beautiful June evening, Lien and Ryan were married in front of family and friends at the Robinswood House in Bellevue.  A beautiful old farmhouse mansion (yes, that really is a thing!) located in what is now Robinswood Park, this is one of my favorite Eastside venues, and I was del;ighted when Ryan contacted me to see if I was able to be their photographer.

Because our “Spring” this year was really just a long extension of winter, having a sunny and warm day was not exactly a given.  When it became clear that we were going to luck out and avoid the rain, I’m sure that Ryan and Lien were as relieved as I was!  Since the forecast had been iffy right up until the last day, the big outdoor tent that is usually taken down sometime in the spring was still in place.

Lien’s background is Vietnamese, and she started the day in a gorgeous traditional red Vietnamese wedding dress.  You’ll see some photos below.  We did some photos with Ryan and Lien’s relatives who were present, and then Lien changed into a traditional Western white wedding dress.  Which was also beautiful!  Though I have to say that my favorite was the original red dress; maybe I’ve just seen too many white wedding dresses in the 40+ years I’ve been shooting weddings. 🙂

The ceremony was held in the main garden on the grounds, a wonderful lawn that is surrounded by a high hedge to keep everything provate even though a very popular park is located on the other side.  Lien had an assortment of young nieces and nephews to act as her attendents, and watching their excitement at being part of the wedding was a lot of fun.  The kids did a great job of staying in order as they led Lien down the stairs and across the lawn to the arch under which the ceremony was held.

At the conclusion of the ceremony all the guests went back up to the main courtyard for appetizers and drinks, while Lien, Ryan and their families stayed behind so we could get some group photos.  Then everyone spent the next hour just congregating and enjoying the fantastic evening.  Dinner was served, a wnderful meal catered by Twelve Baskets Catering, who I have worked with many times and who always prepares fantastic meals.

You can see more samples of my wedding photography on my blog at this link.  I hope you enjoy the photos that you will find below!
